Smittick Electric was hired by Balfour Beatty Rail to furnish and install (12) traction power substation for the RTD West Rail Line project. This was a technically challenging assignment for any contractor, let alone a DBE electrical firm. Smittick Electric performed beyond expectations in all aspects of the work, including managing the substation supplier, Owner technical requirements, substation delivery logistics (from N. Carolina to Colorado), working with the local electrical union for supervisory and craft hires, coordinating field installation activities along a 12-mile corridor that included multiple contractors, etc all while maintaining schedule and cost controls. Smittick Electric went through a steep learning curve on the project, from the technology involved to dealing with the union and union craft issues, but persevered through each challenge to deliver a sound and well managed project.
